Zurich International School (ZIS) is a leading, non-profit day school offering a comprehensive education program for students, both local and expat, aged 3 to 18 in the greater Zurich area. There is an additional bilingual pathway for students aged 3 to 8.
ZIS understands that education is about finding the right balance. Our goal is to ensure that every child leaves with a love of learning. So we give them a safe environment to explore without fear of failure. Our rigorous curriculum – including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) and Advanced Placement courses (AP) – provides a foundation that helps students reach the most prestigious universities. But it also prepares them for a future that requires compassion, leadership, adaptability, resilience and original thinking.
At ZIS, we encourage students to discover new ideas and possibilities, and learn by trying and doing. Children are inspired to go further but to take their own path. That means that what they learn will be transferable and transformative.
Every student explores a wide range of extracurricular activities, from arts to sports, from debating to journalism. We encourage students to try new things so that they can discover who they really want to be. We work to create an environment in which students can be adventurous because they feel supported. We challenge each child to excel, but to protect their mental health and look out for others.
ZIS is truly international, with our 1,200 students representing over 70 nationalities and speaking 40 mother-tongue languages. With the opening of a new state-of-the-art Middle School in August 2022, ZIS will be made up of a Secondary Campus for students aged 11 to 18 in Adliswil and a Lower School for students aged 3 to 11 in Wadenswil.
ZIS, the longest accredited international school in Switzerland, is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Organisation World School, is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on International Education and is approved by the Department of Education of the Canton of Zurich.
Learn, Care, Challenge, Lead are the cornerstones of our mission.
CurriculumZIS provides the challenge and support to ensure that every student becomes their best self and reaches their potential, whatever their interest or passion. ZIS is the greatest school I have ever seen. The 3 strongest arguments for the school are for me: – children are exploring and discovering (instead of learning only…) – teamwork and collaboration (this pays off later at work) – diversity (in many forms). ZIS is doing a great job!
My son is simply thriving at ZIS. He loves school, he loves his after school activities, his teachers motivate him, he has great friends. Quite frankly it makes me want to have a ‘do over’ – I want to go to ZIS myself!
ZIS is a wonderful and very international educational institution, providing my son with excellent academic training. ZIS is innovative and forward-looking, at the leading edge of what is new in education. Focusing on the whole person, ZIS also offers sports, music, art, stem; endless opportunities to discover. All that, combined with supportive teachers who really care, make me feel proud to be associated with the school.
We are extremely pleased by the competitive, demanding, and in the meantime caring, respectful and diverse atmosphere at ZIS. Our family is very happy to be part of ZIS.
I had the privilege to go to Zurich International School where I learnt not only more about the world that schooling gives you, but also about the people from other places around the world whom I went to school with. ZIS prepares you for the academic life as well as the global village we are all living in wherever we might be at any given time.
