King`s Oak British International School, Bucharest, is an inspiring and creative school which takes children from 12 months old up to 16 years old. We are a truly international school with pupils from over 30 nationalities learning together.
We know that one of the most important decisions that a parent makes on behalf of their child is the decision of which school to send them to. There are few things, which are likely to have more impact on a young person’s future than the quality of the school they attend. It is our belief that every child deserves the very best start in life, and we make it our purpose to provide just that to all the children who enter our doors.
Each child is unique, and a well-rounded education must consider their wider experiences, personal motivations, and innate learning styles. We aim to equip our children, not only with an excellent academic grounding, but also with qualities of character to see them through their lives beyond school. Our school ethos, based on consideration, courtesy and respect for others equips our students to have the confidence and ability to enjoy a fruitful and successful life.
We want your child to make progress and achieve the very best they can; but most of all we want the students at King’s Oak to have a prosperous and enjoyable experience at King’s Oak.
We believe in treating every child as an individual and providing a supportive, challenging environment that develops the whole child, resulting in confident, aspirational, and independent young people. Our exceptionally high ratio of adults to children allows this ideal to be a reality.
Located near a picturesque lake area, King’s Oak prides itself on its inclusive, comprehensive, and family-focused education which ensures that all children learn in small classes with fully qualified teachers and great facilities.
King’s Oak British International takes pride in providing the best educational opportunities for all learners. We are constantly changing the education game by experimenting with new ideas, innovating, and redesigning how our students learn, what they learn, and how they demonstrate that learning because we strongly believe that education is about growing, embracing change and being ready to face the challenges of the modern world.
Our students learn in a project-based environment where the core values of inquiry, research, collaboration, presentation, and reflection are emphasized in all classes. We use current technology such as 3D laptops which enable a modern style of teaching and learning using AR/VR experiences. They are used in all areas of the curriculum, particularly in Science, Humanities, Arts and Design and Technology.
We are really proud of our values, our inclusive nature, and our caring and creative pupils. Together we are building a school with heart; where your child will be valued for who they are, and where we will strive to enable them to be the absolute best that they can be!
CurriculumKing`s Oak British International School offers the National Curriculum for England. This is often referred to as the British Curriculum. British education emphasises performance, but it also always focuses on a child’s broader development. While the acquisition of knowledge is vital, it is not sufficient to guarantee success. All learners must develop their full potential to challenge and discover their world. We complement the core subjects and requirements of the National Curriculum with programmes in Sports, Music, Drama and outdoor education that go far beyond the standard requirements. The teaching of a second language is also emphasised. The focus of the curriculum shifts as students progress through the years. In the Early Years (ages 2 to 5), learning is play based. Children acquire their first notions of numeracy and literacy through active, playful activities. By the end of the Early Years, most children have acquired basic reading and number skills and a grounding a second language. In the Primary school (ages 5 to 11) the focus is on learning good fundamental Maths and English language skills. Science, Technology, Humanities and Art are covered as multidisciplinary topics and through projects. The curriculum in lower Secondary (ages 11 to 14) is more subject based and aims at building students ability to work independently and think critically. At this stage the emphasis is on exposing students to opportunities in a wide range of subjects so that they can begin to form ideas of where their interests lie. Upper Secondary students follow GCSE (ages 14 to 16) and A-Level (age 16 to 18) courses. At GCSE, students study English, Maths, Science and a second language plus an additional four or five subjects from a selection. At A Level students specialise further and chose three or four subjects from a range of options. Information Technology features strongly and is introduced early, but used sparingly until upper primary. After that it is used widely as a work tool. One of the great strengths of the British Curriculum is the level of individual, tailored support it affords pupils from a very young age, with students learning at the pace and intensity that suits them, even within a single lesson. Wherever in the world students learn the British Curriculum, it is the same. We know how important this is for parents who might need to move their children to a different school, often to a different country when their job requirements change. We understand that parents are looking for educational stability for their children.

The high ratio of teachers to pupils ensures a greater attention to the children’s educational needs. The school has developed a welcoming community spirit, which ensures a friendly, safe atmosphere where families, teachers and pupils can all focus on achieving the best possible rounded education and results. I have experienced the King`s Oak firsthand with all 3 of my children attending the school in the same time. The way the school inspired my kids to learn was remarkable!
We are impressed by our children`s improvement in all areas of education. Without your great support their progress would never have happened!
I am pleased to commend the King`s Oak for the high standards of education the School provides and the friendly environment that has been created for the children attending the school by the teacher team and under your leadership. I have experienced the Kings Oak firsthand with all 3 of my children attending the school in the same time. The way the school inspired my kids to learn was noteworthy. I have also had dealings with the Kings Oak as a Director of the BRCC and have found the feedback I received from the Chamber membership community as well as my own experiences to be very positive. All of the above ensures that the school lives up to the very highest International standards.
I would like to express our appreciation for all the efforts done so far, our kids are very happy with the school ( classmates, teachers and all the staff) as well as the learning process that is engaging them very much. This means a lot to us that have been changing school nearly every 2 years, seeing them coming happy to school or connecting happily on line has not been so common in the last few years :-). We are on the same boat in this storm, frustrated as you are in this situation but at the same time we are very confident that our kids are having the best they can have at this moment!
