A central location in a natural setting
The campus of Institut Montana is located on the Zugerberg mountain, only 15 minutes by public transport from the city of Zug and less than one hour away from Zurich with its international airport. We take full advantage of our unique location, which offers both privacy and calm in a natural setting, while being centrally located near international cities.

Internationalism and individualised attention are cornerstones of our educational philosophy. The school was founded on humanist principles by Dr Max Husmann in 1926. Today, the school serves 300 students from over 40 different nations. As more than 90% of our students have a first language other than English, courses in a variety of languages are made available to ensure personal and educational development. More than half of our students are boarding students.
Further information about our Educational Philosophy you can find here.
Individual Support & College Counselling
Our students take advantage of small class groups (max. 15 students), teacher supervised study times, personal academic advisory system, one-to-one College Counselling and round-the-clock support in a family-like atmosphere.
Further information about our Individual Support you can find here.
IB Diploma Programme
The International School of Institut Montana Zugerberg offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma in grades 11 and 12. The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is offered to our students in grades 9 and 10. Non-native English speaking students are required to take special courses in English as an Additional Language until their level is deemed sufficient for them to successfully complete a college preparatory programme of studies.

Our balanced and diverse activities programme revolves around sports, creativity and culture. Extracurricular offers involve on and off campus activities, with travel opportunities. My parents were searching for a boarding school … they (and I) decided Institut Montana would be the best fit – the student population, the amazing view, the overall welcoming feeling... whenever a new student arrived, everyone would be curious to get to know them and to learn from them.
Thanks to the social and people skills acquired at Institut Montana, I believe I was better prepared for relationship building which, in my perception, is key in any career.
I learned that respect will take you far. I learned that communicating your thoughts with others and respecting theirs took you even further … I learned that rising above differences only made me see clearer. I learned how to bring up my own children using the same values. Today, I own an establishment in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia which focuses on preserving the history of the old town. I believe my love for history from a young age had a lot to do with my teachers.
I came from a small southern Italian town and I was suddenly exposed to a world of diversity. This contributed to open my eyes to a wide range of international possibilities eventually leading me to pursue a scientific path to bring new knowledge worldwide.
The benefits of studying in an international environment with people from all over the world are tremendous. I went to Institut Montana for two years and graduated with the High School Diploma and the International Baccalaureate, which provided a great foundation for my career path. I always had the support of my teachers and advisers who taught me to take risks and aim high. The school also does a great job cultivating it's network of alumni from all over the world. I'm incredibly thankful for my time at Institut Montana and the friends I've made on the magnificent Zugerberg.
