Dubai English Speaking College is part of the oldest British school in Dubai; Dubai English Speaking School (DESS). Aerial BuiltOur secondary school was established in 2005 (originally located at the Oud Metha site of DESS) to meet the needs of our parents and their children requiring continuing British education up to Y13. Our long proud history together is traced back through the roots of DESS and can be viewed here. Under Founding Headteacher, Peter Daly, DESC opened with just 35 Year 7 students and has grown gradually. The College is now thriving with over 1100 students in Years 7 to 13, has an excellent reputation and, together with DESS, numbers in the region of 2000 students. In 2011, Andrew Gibbs was appointed Headteacher during which time the College has doubled in size and been rated ñOutstandingî by the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau, for the past three successive years. In 2014, following Mr GibbsÍ appointment as the first Principal of DESSC (DESS and DESC), Chris Vizzard (previously Deputy Headteacher) became Headteacher. The modern spacious facilities (pictured above in 2008) are located in Academic City and were officially opened in February 2007 by The Duchess of Cornwall and Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Princess of Jordan, Sheikha of Dubai. (Pictured left being greeted by DESSC students, with Peter Daly and David May (the then respective Headteacher and Chair of Governors)) The College is open for prospective parents to take a tour of the site, as well as meet senior staff, teachers and students. Tours take place twice weekly throughout most of the academic year. See here for schedule and booking arrangements.
