Description

Welcome to Avenues Online, the virtual campus of Avenues: The World School. Avenues Online serves toddler–12th grade students. Avenues uniquely functions as one school with campuses, with locations in New York, São Paulo, Shenzhen, and Online. These campuses form one highly integrated global learning community, and admission to one location means admission to all.

Since 2015, Avenues Online has been carefully designed to provide a world-class education to students anywhere in the world. For toddler–5th grade students, families have options for in-person instruction in their home as well as online instruction with parent support. From 6th-12th grade, Avenues Online offers a unique project-based curriculum, daily interaction with world-class faculty, synchronous and asynchronous enrollment options, expert college counseling support, and access to Avenues’ global network of brick-and-mortar campuses and learning experiences.

The Avenues: The World School curriculum prepares students for a globally connected, innovation-driven. Extensive reading + intensive making: In our Great Works core curriculum, students read carefully paired texts from the humanities and sciences while completing hands-on projects linked to year-long themes. Teachers challenge students to apply ideas from their weekly readings to real-world problems and execute projects that require research, experimentation, and making. The program’s title refers not only to the texts students read, but also to the great works they produce.

Language: Toddler–5th grade students receive intensive, small-group instruction in Mandarin or Spanish. 6-12th grade students can choose from 50+ languages.

Impactful programs for 6–12th grade students:
– Writing Immersion Program (WIP): Developing eloquent writers and effective communicators
– High Intensity Practice (HIP): Cultivating mental agility, empathy, creativity and critical thinking.
– Math Inquiry: Discussion-based math at a virtual round table
– Deans Program: Personalized support and expert college counseling from a trusted mentor
