Zurich International School (ZIS) is a leading, non-profit day school offering a comprehensive education program for students, both local and expat, aged 3 to 18 in the greater Zurich area. There is an additional bilingual pathway for students aged 3 to 8.
ZIS understands that education is about finding the right balance. Our goal is to ensure that every child leaves with a love of learning. So we give them a safe environment to explore without fear of failure. Our rigorous curriculum – including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) and Advanced Placement courses (AP) – provides a foundation that helps students reach the most prestigious universities. But it also prepares them for a future that requires compassion, leadership, adaptability, resilience and original thinking.
At ZIS, we encourage students to discover new ideas and possibilities, and learn by trying and doing. Children are inspired to go further but to take their own path. That means that what they learn will be transferable and transformative.
Every student explores a wide range of extracurricular activities, from arts to sports, from debating to journalism. We encourage students to try new things so that they can discover who they really want to be. We work to create an environment in which students can be adventurous because they feel supported. We challenge each child to excel, but to protect their mental health and look out for others.
ZIS is truly international, with our 1,200 students representing over 70 nationalities and speaking 40 mother-tongue languages. With the opening of a new state-of-the-art Middle School in August 2022, ZIS will be made up of a Secondary Campus for students aged 11 to 18 in Adliswil and a Lower School for students aged 3 to 11 in Wadenswil.

ZIS provides the challenge and support to ensure that every student becomes their best self and reaches their potential, whatever their interest or passion. Our Pre-School to Grade 12 curriculum is shaped and guided by our Learning Principles. Learning outcomes build logically through each grade, preparing students for the next academic challenge. We offer the IB Diploma Programme and Advanced Placement courses.

Co-curricular activities challenge our students’ personal, social and physical development and encourage a greater passion for learning. And with over 100 co-curricular activities and service learning clubs, including sports, music, art, academics and competitive athletics teams, our students are sure to find something to suit them.
ZIS is the greatest school I have ever seen. The 3 strongest arguments for the school are for me:
– children are exploring and discovering (instead of learning only…)
