Descrição
Claremont is a wonderful school set in 100 acres of beautiful open countryside and woodland, 70 minutes from London and just 5 miles from the seaside. With pupils aged from three months – 18 years old, it is rated Outstanding by Ofsted, is the current holder of the UK Independent School of the Year for Performing Arts and has a prestigious Football Academy.
Established in 1925, The Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School is set on an 125 acre estate in St Leonards and educates over 400 students. In 2011, Claremont Senior School was founded in the historic village of Bodiam. Starting with 40 students in 2011, the Senior School is now a well-established centre of learning with over 300 pupils today, a vibrant Sixth Form and a growing boarding community housed in two spacious boarding houses in the historic town of Battle and seaside town of St Leonards on Sea. In 2021, our Boarding provision was also judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
ACCESS TO THE WORLD’S TOP UNIVERSITIES
In 2021 we celebrated the best GCSE and A Level results in Claremont’s history and 89% of students were able to access their first choice of university.
The Claremont Boarding experience and bespoke study pathways help students journey on to some of the world’s top universities with a set of life skills that will stand the test of time. Inspired by the eight main skills highlighted nationally as useful for university or apprenticeship courses and ultimately future careers, our Co-Curricular programme is a rich and diverse activity programme that provides students with opportunities to develop each and every one of them. The programme helps develop free-thinking and skills-based learning that inspires Leadership, Creativity, Team Spirit, Community-mindedness and academic excellence. Supported by an outstanding pastoral care system, students are well cared for and able to contribute to a wide range of activities beyond the main curriculum.
INDEPENDENT UK SCHOOL OF THE YEAR FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
In October 2021, Claremont Senior School was named UK Independent School of the Year for the Performing Arts. The judging panel of 14 was made up of representatives of professional associations and advisory bodies as well as headteachers and principals from leading independent schools from across the country. Over 700 schools up and down the country submitted entries in 24 separate categories. In addition to the imaginative and forward thinking Performing Arts Curriculum, LAMDA is offered to Gold Standard (university level). In February 2022, 100% of LAMDA students were awarded top Distinctions in their examinations.
THE BOARDING EXPERIENCE
Our close proximity to London and the coast also makes Claremont a great choice of school for weekly boarders and all international families looking to place their children in a safe UK location just 70 minutes from the Capital and its airports, as well as main travel links into Europe. International students are fully integrated into the school community which makes for a diverse and unique study and social environment.
For all of our boarders, we offer a safe, happy and quintessentially British boarding experience in a multicultural environment where everyone is welcome, listened to and respected. A wide range of weekend activity programmes ensures that all students have access to a rich and diverse range of fulfilling learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. Tailored study paths develop knowledge, skills and experiences that play to students’ strengths, interests and various learning styles. This makes for a well-rounded student experience.
SUMMER SCHOOL – A GATEWAY TO THE BOARDING EXPERIENCE
Our unique Summer School program is available to students aged 11-17. A PROUD MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIP
Claremont School became a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP) in 2011 and is the flagship British school in a portfolio of over 50 schools around the world. Our partnership with ISP has brought with it renewed investment, the opportunity to realise our ambitions to further develop our extensive grounds and already impressive facilities at both school sites, and a unique and evolving programme of international learning opportunities. These include leadership conferences, the ever-popular ISP Buddy Exchange, ISP Film Festival, TEDX Youth events and Model United Nations programmes to name but a few.

Claremont School – Independent School of the Year for Performing Arts 2021/22
Claremont Prep School life centres on a broad and balanced curriculum. The aim is to teach a breadth of skills which will serve the children well into their future lives. While the National Curriculum is a useful starting point, departments will adapt and enhance their programmes of study to ensure that every pupil is motivated, inspired and challenged. In addition to the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, the Claremont syllabus includes French, History, Religious Studies, Geography, IT, Art and Design, Music, Drama and PE. The Common Entrance syllabus is taught in Years 7 and 8. Boys and girls leave Claremont Prep School, usually at thirteen, predominantly to join Claremont Senior School, and also other Senior Schools of their choice. It is a testament to the excellent preparation that pupils receive at Claremont Prep School that a great many of our leavers gain scholarships and awards across the range of academic, cultural and sporting achievement. CLAREMONT SENIOR SCHOOL Year 9 is focused on providing the academic foundation that prepares students for the examination years of 10 to 13. Small classes, close tutoring, unparalleled access to help and support from talented teaching staff, all working within a smaller school setting, allows for academic focus of the highest order. A full and comprehensive range of GCSE subjects are on offer, all of which are continued into the Sixth Form programme and supplemented with a wide range of additional A Level subjects. Claremont Senior School is justifiably proud of its academic pedigree, having assembled a talented team of subject specialist teachers. The academic programme is built around five teaching faculties: Enterprise, Science & Technology, Humanities, Creative Arts and Communication. Each faculty looks to bring together different, but like-minded subjects and provide an immersive learning experience that emphasises the ‘good struggle’. Each aims to provide the necessary ‘hooks’ for students to get to grips with concepts and content. The faculties also provide the platform for the delivery of a diverse co-curricular programme. The offerings are based around five different areas: Leadership & Qualification, Creative, Community, Active and Academic Support+. Each student, again, has the opportunity to tailor their learning programme to their own particular needs as they build the skills and experience each year they are at the school.

Extra-Curricular
The Co-Curricular Broad and diverse co-curricular programmes are designed to enrich the student experience, and in doing so, develop free-thinking and skills-based learning that inspires Leadership, Creativity, Team Spirit, Community-mindedness and academic excellence. Supported by an outstanding pastoral care system, students are well cared for and able to contribute to a wide range of activities beyond the main curriculum.
I’ve been in Claremont for 3 months and I have enjoyed every single day of this experience. It is a fantastic place with lovely people that take care of me all the time. I love Boarding. It is great to go home with your friends at the end of the day, and the staff in Clyde House are fantastic. I am learning how to become more independent, which I think is one of the most important aspects of growing up. I’ve studied subjects that I would never have studied in Italy such as Economics, Business and Politics. My English has improved significantly and I was given the opportunity to do my I.E.L.T.S. exam, which has shown me the progress I am making. I’m very proud to be part of Claremont and I will always carry the people I have met in my heart.
— Giulio M – Year 10 Boarder para Claremont School
Feedback from my son, no complaints. All year groups from the start of nursery right the way through (now Year10) have provided an incredible sense of stability. My son's loyalty to the School is unquestionable and that must filter down from the sheer determination and hard work of the staff who have helped and supported him over the years.
— Parent of Year 10 student para Claremont School
Our child has always loved Claremont and didn’t want to be at any other school. Sixth form has especially been amazing for our child and we believe he will exceed expectations with his UCAS scores. We have always appreciated that Mr. Perrin and Mr. Dickie are contactable and take the time to explain when we need help to understand. The wonderful thing about Claremont is that it is large enough to support the pupils interests but small enough to have contact with every member of staff. Nobody feels faceless or unapproachable, it does feel like a family where we all know each other. We have felt so welcomed and supported as a family.

I think the Football Academy is like a family. We all work together to make each other better!
