Founded in 1889, Ridley College is a co-educational boarding and day school located on a beautiful 90-acre campus in St. Catharines, Ontario. A one-hour drive from Toronto and ten minutes from Niagara Falls, the Ridley campus is easily accessible from both Toronto Pearson International Airport and Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Students range from JK through grade 12, with a post-graduate year option, and come from 60 countries worldwide. With over 380 boarders, Ridley is the third largest boarding program in Canada and one of country’s oldest boarding schools.
“World Prep” is what you find here: a forward-looking and rigorous program that prepares students for a university education and a successful future. Ridley graduates go on to study at some of the top colleges and universities in Canada, the United States, and internationally. Ridley offers the IB Diploma Program and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma Program.
Beyond academics is a diverse extracurricular program in the arts, athletics, leadership and, most importantly, community service. For over 130 years, Ridley College has held true to its motto, Terar Dum Prosim, or “May I be consumed in service.” Opportunities abound for participation in Creativity, Action, and Service activities year-round.
One of the defining features of Ridley is the traditional house system, which integrates both boarding and day students into 10 boarding houses on campus, each with its own unique identity and sense of community. By incorporating our local day students into the boarding program, Ridley provides students with a perfect balance of global influences and Canadian culture.
ProgramaOur academics are made up of challenging curricula; a combination of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements and the International Baccalaureate (IB). This combination prepares students to meet the challenges of higher education at the most selective colleges and universities around the world, while they participate in a unique inquiry-based learning experience.

Being a student athlete, I wanted to find a school that would offer me the best opportunities in both the classroom and in hockey. This is my second year at Ridley and since then, I have found people who have pushed me in the classroom, friendships that will last a lifetime and the opportunity to train with many other great athletes. At Ridley, I always feel like I am at home. It is such a positive environment where I am surrounded by determined students. I have never been in an environment with such a good work ethic. You don’t only learn things in the classroom, but from the friends that surround you outside of the classroom as well. My favourite memories come from getting to travel with the hockey team. We get the chance to go on road trips together and spend the weekend as a team. We get the opportunity to compete with the best teams in the province all while getting to spend time together and making bonds that will last forever. At Ridley I get to learn something new every day. I’ve learned how to be the best version of myself and apply that in every aspect of life!
There is a greater focus on excellence here – not just on academic or athletic excellence, but the pursuit of excellence. I wanted to make sure that our children had that opportunity to get that exposure, not just from the faulty, but from other students as well.
My teachers here are essentially my best friends. I can go to them whenever I have any problems and they are always ready to offer their help.
I could not imagine a better school for our children or for us as a family.
Ridley opens the door to a life full of spirit and inspiration and is a school where you are encouraged to follow your passions. Living in this international community away from home makes you independent, builds your confidence, and prepares you for the life you want to live. Throughout my time at Ridley, the saying "If you never try, you'll never know" has really spoken to me; this school has given me the opportunity to try many new things in order to find myself and discover what I want to do in the future.
