APU American International School is an independent, coeducational university preparatory day school with two campuses and boarding facilities located in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam. Since its inception in 2004, APU has continuously participated in the economic development of Vietnam by offering high-quality education to K-12 learners.
Following the success of Ho Chi Minh City’s campus, we are pleased to have opened the APU American International School in Da Nang City in 2015, which provides the APU quality and brand in the Central region of Vietnam. Building on the success of APU, a long process lead to the creation of the first American-style university, located in the same Danang campus: the American University in Vietnam (AUV). Also, for the 2020-2021 school year, APU American International School has launched the Bilingual Program.
APU American International School offers a boarding program for students who either do not live in Viet Nam or students who want to participate in the boarding school experience. Our dormitory facilities are located in the safe and secure campus.
Curriculum evaluation and implementation would focus on high expectations that would prepare students for future career and post-secondary learning. Greater Pathways for individual learning were offered to the students. Alongside, SAT, Math and English preparatory courses and TOEFL classes were offered to college-bound students. Furthermore, the College Bridge Program was expanded to allow for a more diverse course catalog, especially as more students began choosing this option in favor of moving to the USA due to COVID. ELD program: CCSS, MAP, WIDA, and TESOL Standards. K-5 CCSS.2.6 focusing on the California Curriculum has always been a priority. And as such, resources have been purchased that mirror our sister school in Saigon that aligned to the curriculum of California.

Extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and events includes: Extra-Curricular club system, online sharing with other schools, Holiday Cultural Celebrations, School Spirit Week, School community based games involving teacher/student, Advisory time, Out of school community volunteerism opportunities. The Elementary school has a traditional homeroom structure where the teacher is responsible for core content teaching and learning. Students stay together in all classes. The secondary school has a, “House System” that allows students to engage in extra-curricular activities with a school community group. There is a secondary school Student Council to organize student activities and events.
I have immense respect for APU teachers for delivering the best education to us, care for us, look at our progress rather our grades, challenge us, and make us grow. They give us the motivation, and the inspiration to work harder and harder.

At APU, you are encouraged to challenge yourself and explore subjects beyond the core requirements. Thanks to Dr. Binh Tran’s broad view on multifaceted education, I was fortunate to participate in a pioneer program introducing students to various courses and after-school programs ranging from advanced math and science, creative writing to intercultural-focus activities. All of which, unbeknownst to me at the time, contributed to shaping a solid foundation, pivotal to my future career.

Choosing APU American International School was the best decision that I could have made for my child, who I can say with full of joy has finally graduated from high school. My family received the proudest achievement of my son being admitted to the University of British Columbia – The top 1 University in Canada and it is also in the Top 20 Best Universities in the World. Furthermore, my nephew is Truyen Huu Le – an APU alumni who have excelled in a Master of Science, and a Chemical Engineering major at the University of California-Berkeley.
APU is a solid foundation for my children to excel in the Dean's List of prestigious schools in the United States. My family will always be proud of APU and Dr. Binh, who have dedicated herself to the foundation of American education in Vietnam.
